A 42-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing GBH and attempted theft.
A police spokesman added: “Police were called just before 12pm to reports of shoplifting.
“In a struggle the security officer suffered non-life threatening cuts to both wrists. He was taken to hospital for treatment.”
